Dental Health Tips for Children!

We all want the same for our children, health, happiness and a life full of smiles. With a few small changes in oral hygiene habits at home, we can make it happen!

Dental Health Tips for Children!

1. Use toothpaste containing fluoride
It's as simple as that. By the time the first tooth comes in, your child can use the same toothpaste as you. The fluoride ingested from food, drinks, supplements, and yes, toothpaste strengthens tooth enamel, and therefore the tooth better resists decay.

By brushing twice a day, for two minutes at a time, with a fluoride toothpaste your children will have strong and healthy teeth. Children, of course, don't need as much toothpaste as you use, but the picture below shows exactly the amount as defined by the American Dental Association:

2. Visit the dentist from the very first year or from the moment the child's first tooth emerges
Starting dental care early leads to a lifetime of healthy smiles. The first visit does not include x-rays or dental treatment, just the dentist will give you valuable advice on how to best care for your child's teeth. In addition to prevention, the dentist will recommend the best care products and discuss with you anything that is troubling you.

An important bonus of this visit is that the child will get used to the dental examination, which will make subsequent visits a game!

3. Drink fluoridated tap water
Exposure to fluoride strengthens the outer part of the tooth, so when your child consumes any other sugary drink, his teeth will be better prepared for ... the battle. The amount of fluoride in the water is safe and adjustable, and access is as simple as turning on a faucet.

4. Help your child floss when two teeth touch
If we do not floss when two teeth touch each other, then food debris accumulates there, which gradually leads to the development of caries. So, it's important to help your child get a good start and teach them the benefits of flossing early on!
