How can implants be placed with minimal bone? What can we do if there is not enough bone to place dental implants? Dentist Tania Hadjipanagiotidou gives the solution for the placement of dental implants with minimal bone.
Mrs. Hadjipanagiotidou your practice has specialized in the placement of implants with minimal bone what does this mean?
Problems during the placement of dental implants
Yes, it has to be said that this is a key problem that we have with our patients. Too many times there is not the corresponding bone to place an implant and so we have to do other techniques earlier. So that we can make the bone that the area requires in order to put in a properly sized implant. But these techniques, that is, the techniques for grafting the area, require a second surgery to be done at the beginning, that is, before the implant is placed. This means both greater discomfort for the patient and greater cost and longer treatment time.
Implant placement techniques with minimal bone
So there are now techniques that we follow, in which we take advantage of the patient's own bone and thus avoid second surgeries. With these techniques we proceed to the placement of the implant we want to put in. How is this done? The one technique that we use is the technique with some drill bits that work instead of clockwise counterclockwise, which use my own bone which they compress outwards and upwards to create the corresponding space for me to place the implant that I want.

Limitations when placing a tooth implant
To explain, there are two limitations when placing an implant in the mouth. In the maxilla there is the restriction of the sinus. The sinus is an empty space that we have here in the maxilla. We measure on the initial x-ray how much bone I have from the sinus and down so that I can place an implant in the back areas of the maxilla. And so if the bone that I have is a little bit not enough up to the sinus to place an implant there is the one limitation that I have in the maxilla. And in the mandible is the amount of bone I have above the mandibular nerve. But also a lot of times the thickness of the bone crest which is often narrow and so it doesn't allow me to place the implant that I want.
Dental implants with drill bits
So the drill bits are these, we use them in such a way that the bone that I already have with a minimum height I can widen and lengthen it. So instead of using the drill bits we use to make the initial incision, osteotomy, to place an implant. We use these drill bits that change the shape of the bone for me. And so I can have the ability to directly place an implant.
Teeth implants with inclined teeth
The other way we use is the following. We can place implants with a corresponding inclination to use the patient's bone again. And not having to put in a smaller implant that may last less or have to be preceded by the procedure of grafting the area. So so I absolutely have to when I'm told that I don't have bone to place the implant I have to go to a qualified dentist on that part. Specialized dentist like our dental office to say with certainty now that yes you have no bone or no you have the corresponding bone that we can use to place an implant directly.
Nice smile with resin facets
Apart from dental implants, dentist Tania Hatzipanagiotidou specializes in all cosmetic dentistry treatments such as resin veneers. One of the best ways to improve your smile is resin veneers. We use resin veneers to improve the appearance of teeth. Resin veneers are thin layers of composite resin that are placed and shaped onto the front surface of the teeth. By the resin facets aesthetic imperfections can be corrected to improve the patient's smile. In addition to improving imperfections, resin veneers can be used to correct discolored teeth that do not respond to whitening. We can also use resin veneers to cover small chips in teeth or improve irregularities in tooth shape. All of these techniques are used for to improve the patient's smile. After all, the most important goal of cosmetic dentistry is a beautiful smile.
