10 tips for healthy and white teeth!

A beautiful smile is a jewel for every face and the secret of beauty is in any case health! But how can we get healthy and therefore beautiful and shiny teeth? There are 10 simple and useful rules that we can all follow.

1. Fight the fear of the dentist! Easy to say, but not always easy to do. If you're drenched in a cold sweat every time you have to visit your dentist, one way to calm down is to have your favorite music with you so you can relax while waiting for your turn in the lounge. Also make sure to breathe slowly and deeply and most importantly, keep in communication with your doctor. You should be able to discuss any fears you have with him or her so that he or she can in turn help you.

2.Brush or thread? Flossing before brushing helps us to brush your teeth more effectively, as it removes food trapped between the teeth. If you're not sure how to floss, you can ask your dentist or pharmacist to avoid any gum injuries.

3.Be careful with toothpicks! The toothpick helps to remove food stuck between the teeth, but it is very easy to damage our gums with one sudden movement. So opt for flossing, which removes food debris and also fights plaque build-up by getting rid of the bacteria that forms there.

4.Don't forget to change your toothbrush! Toothbrush bristles become tangled, straightened or worn over time. To keep your smile bright you need to replace your toothbrush every three or four months.

5.Eat cheese! The casein and milk protein in cheese helps keep tooth enamel in excellent condition. In addition, cheese is vital for building calcium in the teeth.

6.Baking soda for stains! If you love coffee, red wine or anything else that leaves stains on your teeth, the solution to deal with them is to try brushing them with baking soda twice a month, just like you would with toothpaste.

7. Foods that make teeth shine! There are many foods that leave colour on our teeth such as blueberries and coffee. On the flip side, there are foods that help with discoloration such as apples, pears, carrots, celery.

8.Adjust the gastroesophageal reflux! If you have acid reflux, you need to get it under control to maintain your tooth enamel and oral health. Foods that commonly cause acid reflux are chocolate, alcohol, caffeinated drinks such as soda, coffee and tea, garlic, onions, dairy, tomatoes, citrus fruits, mint and spicy, fatty or fried foods.

9.Take care of your tongue! Treat bad breath by brushing your tongue thoroughly every time you brush your teeth. Your tongue is home to the bacteria that cause bad breath and by doing so you can reduce the odor they cause.

10. Medication can cause dry mouth! Our mouth needs saliva to stay healthy. Hundreds of medications, such as antidepressants, blood pressure medications, and antihistamines, can dry out saliva. Medication is the most common cause of dry mouth. To keep your mouth moist, increase your fluid intake, ask your dentist about an artificial saliva product, or chew sugarless gum after meals.
