Porcelain crowns are the "heavy artillery" of cosmetic dentistry. They enable us to fine-tune the shape and colour of the teeth to give the patient the smile they desire. With porcelain crowns, we are able to create stunning results with gorgeous teeth that are symmetrical and very white. In the article you are reading we have collected some real cases of patients in which we have followed treatment with porcelain wreaths. Each incident is accompanied by pictures and a detailed description. This way you have the possibility to see with your own eyes how amazing results can be achieved with porcelain wreaths.
Porcelain wreaths first incident
The lady wanted to change the aesthetics of her smile, the original image is this. There was also a forward protrusion of the teeth of the upper jaw. There was a forward slope of all the teeth from canine and forward. There was a gap between the upper and lower teeth. The phonation was not good of this particular lady. They had too many restorations with old fillings which had pigments on them, and some terry tooth decay had started.

The lady decided to proceed with restoration with porcelain. Porcelain restorations are always used when it comes to full mouth restoration as we see here. In this particular case in the maxilla, we opt for all-ceramic restorations. That is, porcelain restorations do not have a metal core inside. In this way they are much more aesthetic, because they closely resemble the natural tooth. The dental technician can render the natural tooth transparencies on the porcelain. And so when the patient smiles, one cannot tell if it is their natural teeth or if what we see is porcelain. A lot of times when this happens, even we dentists can't tell when we see a patient if they have something artificial in their mouth or not. In this lady's case, porcelain all-ceramic sockets were placed on all of her maxillary teeth. This treatment lasted two weeks.

Digital smile
All together, the preparation of the teeth, the placement of temporary crowns, the impressions and the rehearsals in which the patient sees the final result which the patient can also see digitally at the beginning. The his digital smile is planned together with the dental technician and the patient can see the final result on the computer before starting the treatment. Along the way he also sees them in his mouth, in the rehearsals he can see the colour, shape and phonation. And anything that needs to be changed can be changed within the rehearsals. That is, we can discuss it together and decide that the teeth want to, for example, lengthen a little bit or round or flatten a little bit more.
We see all this together, with our experienced help and the patient's input and taste. We decide after some rehearsals that this is the final shape we choose. The restorations are bonded permanently, in this case it was each individual crown, it's like having my teeth from the beginning and having a perfect smile since I was born. The patient only comes in for a cleaning she doesn't need any other special care, just brushing by herself good and a check up by us every six months.
Porcelain wreaths second incident
Here the girl in question, who is also very young, had an intense roar. She had stress during school, in fact she was a very good student, it was not noticed by her parents, herself or the dentist she went to and we had a lot of damage to her teeth. The convergence was seated, the inside of the teeth were worn down and aesthetically what you can see in the smile is the cutting of the incisal surfaces of the front teeth, we don't have a picture of the inside surfaces. He basically came to the office for this cutting of the front teeth, he didn't realize the more significant problem that was there.

We decided to cosmetically restore her four front teeth upstairs with porcelain and she had a whitening treatment all over her mouth. So on the four front teeth of the upper jaw we placed all-ceramic crowns, which are full coverage, meaning they cover the back surfaces as well since they were decayed, and on the other teeth we placed resin, chewing resin as a filling to cover these losses of tooth substance that had been caused by the roar.
So some fillings were made aesthetically from fangs and back, in the upper and lower jaw, the joint that had been sitting was lifted, because the distance between the nose and the chin when we have a roar and the chewing surfaces of the teeth are worn down, this distance becomes smaller and the mouth closes more. So to get the mouth back up to the height it used to be we have to put material on our back teeth which we decided was resin and so we put the four crowns on the upper jaw at the height and length that we wanted and could put in and so the restoration is what you see aesthetically.

They are perfect, you can't see anything at all when the girl smiles, it's like her natural teeth completely, no one can tell that something has been done there, not even the dentist can tell, it matched the color of the rest of the teeth perfectly, she only comes in for a cleaning and a checkup every six months.
Porcelain wreaths third incident
Here we have a fairly complex case, this gentleman had a severe roar for years, he clenched his teeth during the day and so we had a very large loss of dental substance from the chewing surfaces of the teeth throughout the jaw. As a result, the convergence and articulation was seated, the distance between the nose and the chin was reduced, and the picture is what we see, with the teeth of the maxilla protruding forward. This happens when the joint sits in the back region, the front teeth usually fly forward and so we have this initial picture.

So he came in for restoration of his smile and chewing function, he had already reached the point where some of his teeth were hurting in the back area and needed a root canal there since so much dental substance had been removed by the roar that some teeth had gotten too close to the nerve of the tooth. All-ceramic porcelain crowns were placed on all the teeth in the upper and lower jaw and so the restoration is what we see in the final image, in the colour we chose, a mild white colour.
Usually in men we don't choose the very white color that many women desire, we choose a mild white shade, a whitening shade. The crowns are one by one stuck in the mouth, immobile, and the gentleman now only comes in for a cleaning, of course this particular patient definitely wears a roar mask at night, which we created in the office with an impression on the final restoration, so that the porcelain restorations we did are protected, and we don't have any chipping from the roar he does at night.

Porcelain wreaths fourth incident
In this case the patient decided to come in for a smile restoration. We can see here that the teeth in the maxilla have a lot of old fillings, the resins have discolored, and in fact this particular one had a second lateral, which was further in, between this lateral and the canine, where you can see that there's another tooth, a second lateral. Also the center line of the patient's smile was also shifted to the left.

It was a demanding incident, we had to move the centerline, hide the second lateral, which became a fang and the fang became a canine, aesthetically, so that it would appear in the final restoration that there is one lateral and not two. The final restoration was what we see with all-ceramic porcelain crowns throughout the mouth, permanently bonded of course. The patient now smiles happily, only comes in for a checkup every six months and has been taught how to brush his teeth properly.

Porcelain wreaths fifth incident
Here this particular patient had a severe problem. She had a forward protrusion of the lower jaw, the joint was seated as it had a roar, and the teeth in the posterior region of the jaw had lost dental substance, i.e. the distance between the nose and the chin was reduced.

So we decided to place eight all-ceramic porcelain crowns in the upper jaw from first premolar to first premolar, after the joint was lifted in the back teeth, that is, we lifted the joint by placing resins in the back area, as a filling on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to lift it back to where the joint used to be, and we did a whitening in the lower jaw. So in this way we were able to place porcelain crowns on the maxilla at the length we wanted, because these particular bands when she was talking you couldn't see the teeth in the upper jaw, they were quite short.

Here they are now visible because the teeth of the upper jaw have grown longer. And in this way, since the joint was raised, the teeth, the upper teeth, were able to come out more in front of the lower jaw. Now there is no longer this protrusion of the lower jaw that we see in the first picture. So the patient is chewing better and clearly, and her final image is much better than the initial one. The patient only needs to wear a roaring chewing gum in her sleep to avoid fractures which has always been necessary. So in the final rehabilitation we have now made a roar splint. By taking an impression after the restorations were glued and wearing a sleeping pad to her sleep she now comes in every six months and we see her.
Porcelain wreaths sixth incident
Here the patient wanted to change the aesthetics of her front teeth. Her front teeth are crowded. The restorations were old, resins had lost their shape and color. One tooth was larger, the other smaller. And there were cavities in some places too.

So she decided to fully restore her smile. First, a full mouth whitening was done to get a whiter smile. And along the way, four all-ceramic porcelain crowns were placed on her upper jaw, on her four front teeth. So the final image is what we see:

You can't see anything at all when you look. Even a dentist can't tell that something has been done to her teeth. Her gums are in excellent condition because that is also important after any restoration. And on re-examinations to see that the gums remain healthy and anything artificial we have put in has not affected the tissues of the mouth. There is complete health inside the mouth. Of course she has been taught how to brush and every six months she comes in and we see her and it's like it's been that way all along.
Porcelain wreaths seventh incident
Well here the patient, in this case, came in in this condition. She had a bridge on the left above that was wobbling and the teeth had to be removed. Here we see the teeth in the upper jaw had already been removed and the teeth in the rest of the jaw were in this shape.

He wanted to move on to restoring the smile and the void in the upper left. Two implants were placed on the upper left. And in the process, a mobile bridge was created with three teeth on the upper left. And all-ceramic porcelain crowns were placed on the remaining teeth. A whitening was done on the lower jaw so that we could put a whiter color in porcelain on the upper jaw. The final image is what we see here.

Complete restoration of the smile one - one crowns on the upper jaw except for the bridge on the upper left which is on-implant, resting on implants. This restoration with porcelains takes two weeks to finish. The implant restoration took us two and a half months to place the implants and after two and a half months the upper left bridge was placed. The patient only needs to come in for a check up every six months and nothing more. She brushes very well. She checks the health of the periodontal tissues every time she comes in. And it's now been three years and there is complete health in her mouth.
Dental implants
Equally amazing results can be achieved with dental implants. The difference is that porcelain crowns are mainly concerned with the colour and shape of the teeth. While implants fill the gap when there is tooth loss. A tooth implant is a titanium screw which is inserted in the place of the root of the lost tooth. Before tooth implants were invented, a bridge had to be placed to fill the gap in the tooth. The problem in this case was that it also affected the adjacent teeth. Instead the dental implants is a completely conservative method.
Cases with dental implants
In cases where we combine dental implants with porcelain crowns the result is amazing. We have collected cases with dental implants in which you can see the amazing change in the patient's mouth. It is worthwhile to see the cases with dental implants in which a porcelain bridge was placed on top. We are referring to cases in which the patient had little or no teeth in their mouth and left the office with a bright smile. Here we have some cases with dental implants.
Cosmetic dentistry
Each of the methods of cosmetic dentistry has advantages and disadvantages. For example, tooth veneers are the fastest and most economical method. But it does not allow the patient to chew firmly with his front teeth because resin is a more fragile material than porcelain. on our website you can find out about all the methods we use in cosmetic dentistry
The dentist advises
The choice of method will be made by the dentist and not by the patient. It is not right to draw your own conclusions by watching articles and videos through our channel. The dentist knows much more and can choose which method of cosmetic dentistry is suitable for your mouth having in mind all the parameters as well as huge scientific training. Most of the time it is necessary to do some examinations such as x-rays before choosing the treatment or before starting the treatment. You can easily find out all this if you make a free visit at the dentist. Her office is located at 16 Grigoriu Lambraki Street in Glyfada
