Bonding-Lifting of teeth (resin veneers)

MEDICAL FACTS

Resin veneers (tooth bonding) are one of the most widely used techniques in cosmetic dentistry, in order to restore and improve the appearance of the front teeth. This method offers a natural and durable result, which can improve the shape, colour and surface of teeth, giving patients a more attractive smile.

What are the Resin Aspects?

Resin veneers are thin coatings applied to the front surface of the teeth, made of composite resin. Composite resin is a material used in dentistry that consists of a polymer with microparticles to enhance its strength. This material allows the dentist to precisely shape the surface of the tooth, improving its aesthetics and functionality.

The resin is chosen mainly because of its ability to chemically bond with the tooth surface (chemical bonding), as well as its ability to adapt to the natural characteristics of the tooth, such as colour and texture. This offers a very natural result, which can last from five to ten years, depending on the care and habits of each patient.

Indications for Resin Aspects

Resin veneers are indicated for cases where the teeth show:

  • Discoloration that cannot be restored by bleaching.
  • Undesirable position in the dental arch (it is crooked).
  • Small cracks or fractures.
  • Spaces (gaps) between the teeth.
  • Uneven surfaces or asymmetries.
  • Wear on the cutting edges due to friction.

Advantages of Resin Views

The use of resin veneers offers many advantages over other aesthetic techniques:

  • No or minimal loss of dental tissue: Resin veneers require little or no tooth preparation, which means the natural tooth remains intact.
  • Minimum installation time: The placement of resin veneers can be completed in a single visit (2 hours for each jaw).
  • Aesthetic results: Resin veneers offer a natural appearance and can be matched to the natural color of the teeth.
  • Repairability: in case of damage or fracture of the face, repair is very easy and usually does not require the removal of the entire face.
  • It is an economic process.

Process of installing resin faces

The process of installing resin facings consists of the following stages:

1. Assessment and Treatment Planning

Before the procedure begins, the dentist will assess the patient's oral health and consider whether resin veneers are the right solution. At this stage, the patient's expectations will be discussed, and a simulation may be done so that the patient can see the possible outcome. An appointment for the placement of the veneers is set.

2. Application of Composite Resin

During our appointment, the composite resin is placed in layers on the surface of the tooth. Each layer is shaped and adjusted to achieve the desired shape, color, and thickness. The dentist uses special tools to precisely shape the appearance and ensure that it blends harmoniously with the rest of the teeth.

3. Polymerism

After the face is formed, the resin is cured using a special polymerization light. This process allows the resin to become durable and firmly bonded to the tooth surface.

4.Final Adjustment and Polishing

After polymerization, the dentist proceeds to detailed shaping and polishing of the face, ensuring that the final result is smooth and natural. Polishing also helps to prevent plaque build-up and enhance the durability of the material.

After the Process

Caring for resin veneers involves adhering to daily oral hygiene and flossing to avoid plaque and tartar buildup. It is also advisable to avoid eating very hard foods that can cause wear or fractures to the veneers. Regular monitoring by the dentist is recommended to check and maintain the veneers.
